| With all its technobabble and
hype, the Internet can seem like a pretty daunting place to a small
business owner. You know that a web presence can help your business, but
you may not be sure how to go about creating a site, let alone how to
get it onto the Internet. Of course, creating your site and making sure
it's up and running on the web are precisely what we at Magic in the Web
are here to do. We're also here to answer any questions you might have
about the Internet, and more importantly, we're here to listen to your
ideas and aspirations for your site. We've put together an outline of
our design process, taking you step-by-step through the creation of your
site, from our initial consultation with you to maintaining your web
presence so that it grows as you do. Please read on. |
|
|
|

|
Step
1 - Free Initial Consultation |
|
Maybe you already know
precisely what you want your web site to be, or maybe you just want to
find out what the web offers you—either way, we'll be happy to discuss
the possibilities with you. We want to know what you envision for your
business's online presence, so we'll ask lots of questions and listen
carefully to your answers. This first meeting is free of charge and free
of obligation. |
|
|
|

|
Step 2 - The Site
Proposal |
|
If you like what you hear from
us in Step 1, the next step is for us to consider all of the information
we gathered from you during the consultation and develop a site
proposal. This proposal will include design ideas (color scheme,
graphics, page/frame layout, etc.), preliminary navigation interface,
tentative development schedule and, of course, cost. We treat the
proposal as "a work in progress" rather than a "done
deal": we will rework it as much as we need to until both parties
are confident we have created a document that will serve as a guide to
creating the final site. When the proposal is finalized, we will ask
that you sign a contract and pay half of the agreed upon amount. |
|
|
|

|
Step 3 - The Rough
Draft |
|
Once we've worked out the details of the
site, we'll follow the specifications of the contract and create a
"rough draft" version of your site's home page and, if
applicable, one of the interior pages. We'll then show you this rough
draft, asking for your input. If the changes are relatively minor, we'll
go back to the drawing board and make any necessary alterations. If
we're on the wrong track entirely, we'll take notes and do a redesign.
Hopefully, we'll get it right the second time (though we plan on getting
it right the first time!).*

|
|

|
Step 4 - Putting
Your Site Together |
|
This is where we polish the rough draft,
turning the initial design into the finished product. All the graphics
and pages for your site will be created during this stage, and remember
that we can put our writing and editorial skills to work in drafting or
proofing content for your site. After the site is created, we submit it
to your for your final approval.
|
|
|
|

|
Step 5 - Putting
Your Site on the Web |
|
Actually, this is a two-step process. In
step one, we move the site to your host server and test it extensively
to make sure all of the links are working and that it's performing at
its best. All of this is done "behind the scenes" so that any
user who accesses your domain name will not see the site until we're
sure everything is working just right. When the testing is complete, we
"go live" and launch your site on the World Wide Web. If you
would like, we can, in conjunction with Netsites
International, host
your site on a Netsites server and offer you up to 10 MB server space
and three e-mail accounts. After going live, we will register your
site with the number and type of search engines specified in your
contract to help drive traffic to your site.
|
|
|
|

|
Step 6 -
Maintenance |
|
Very few web sites are static; most sites
change on a monthly, weekly or even daily basis. With that in mind, we
will be happy to create a maintenance/hosting package tailored to meet
your needs. These packages may include such things as hosting (if you
host with us through Netsites), the creation of new pages, content
updates, graphic creation/updates, search engine registration, the
addition of new site elements, etc. We want your site to continue to
grow as you grow, so we will be happy to assist you in all your
maintenance needs. In fact, if you already have a site but are tired of
maintaining it, give us a call to talk about your maintenance needs!

|
|
|
|
*One redesign is included
in the negotiated contract price. If additional redesigns are necessary,
client will be required to pay an additional fee for each redesign.
